Stabilizers

PCB Mount/Screw-in stabilizers tend to vibrate less. M5 full-sized keyboard barebone uses Akko screw-in stabilizers (un-assembled) with nylon housing in case users want to lubricate.

South-facing PCB

The south-facing PCB of the MonsGeek M5 avoids causing interference with Cherry profile keycaps, offering more compatibility and flexibility.

Customizable RGB

M5 custom aluminum kit offers approximately 18 preset backlight modes, which allow users to adjust the brightness and flowing speed levels. Moreover, it supports a wide range of RGB effects, with over 16.8 million colors available. Users can also install an upcoming JSON file to access even more lighting effects and configurations.

New Silver Accent

While M5 silver comes with golden accent, MonsGeek has picked the new silver accent on other models. MonsGeek will start to offer standalone accents for sale to better personalize each unit based on user preference.

N-Key Rollover

The N-Key Rollover technology allows all keys to work simultaneously and ensures every keystroke is recorded and prevents ghosting.

Engraved Back Design

M5 QMK version has adopted the new engraved back design with re-sized sticker for aethestics purposes.

QMK/VIA

MonsGeek M5 supports VIA for cross-platform (Linux/Mac/Windows) advanced keyboard configuration.

This feature is exclusively for international version of M5.

Need More Foam?

Monsgeek has developed its own budget custom material that performs equally as well as poron. Meanwhile, MonsGeek M5 comes with an additional sponage case foam to reduce case ping.

*Disclaimer: Using thicker foam may reduce flex, whether to include it or not is down to your personal preference.

PET Insulation Layer

A PET insulation layer has been added to the bottom case in order to prevent any short circuit issues. It’s rare for these issues to occur but we want to add extra protection.

Accessories to Play With

Extra teflon pads included for users who wish to perform a force break mod.

MonsGeek includes a default 3mm custom-made foam for a balanced feeling. Disclaimer: the foam will affect the overall sound profile and flex.

    It is amazing.

Purchased this as I wanted a full size aluminium board and was not disappointed! The kit was easy to assemble, it look s and feels great and once I applied the force break mod tape (included in the box) it sounded absolutely fantasic. I cannot recommend this board enough.

I’ve bought this keyboard and I’m quite happy with it, the design is great. However, I observed an issue with poor ESD protection. As the keyboard has an aluminium case, it happened to me quite often, that when I came to my desk and touched the keyboard, it suddenly stopped working. I was only able to make it work again by re-plugging the USB cable (restart). I found out, that every time ESD strike happens between me and my keyboard, it freezes completely. Of course, I can do some countermeasures at my office to mitigate ESD buildup. Most people will maybe not even observe the issue. Fortunately, I’m a HW guy, so I was able to fix it with proper HW modification. But keep in mind, if you experience ESD strikes in your office/home, you may have an issue with this. It’s not ideal, because ESD can easily kill your keyboard. Overall, I’m giving 4 stars, as this is still intended for geeks and if you’re geek enough to open it and assemble it with stabilizers, switches, etc.. then you can fix this as well.

I’ve been using this keyboard for just over 6 months and I enjoy it. It’s extremely heavy and all I want from a keyboard. The only problem Id has with it would be some of the screw’s heads broke off and are permanently lodged into the base. I would recommend if you want a full-sized keyboard.
